Cabinet War Rooms

The Cabinet War Rooms are a must see in London. It is one of the best museums in London. If you are a World War II buff or a lover of Winston Churchill you could spend hours in this place. The Cabinet War Rooms were Churchill's home away from home during the war and especially during the Blitz. It has been preserved and is exactly the way it was in 1945, on VJ day when the war ended. The rooms were sealed for almost 30 years and opened to the public as a museum.

The war rooms are located just down the street from the Admirality building and the Queens Horse Guards. There is easy access from Whitehall or from King Charles street near St James Park. The entrance is a small door surrounded by sand bags, much the way it would have appeared during the war. Headsets are provided which give you a guided tour of the facility. As far as war museums go this one is top notch and really allows you to experience the war in much the same way Churchill would have. The Cabinet War Rooms Are one of the must see London attractions on your European vacation.
