Brussels

Discover Brussels!!

Not only is Brussels the capital of Belgium but it's also the capital of the European Union. What a great city!! It's absolutely beautiful!! Again you only need a day or two in Brussels to see most of it. It's a great place for a wonderful meal and it has the best beer on the planet. The area around the Grand Place is magical at night. It's a great city to enjoy on foot so take a look at my Brussels walking tour. Click on the link above to discover Brussels. Prague

Prague is considered by many to be the "gem" of Europe. The city was virtually untouched during the second world war and has kept most of it's historic buildings, unlike other cities in Europe. It's most popular landmark is Prague castle, which is the largest ancient castle in the world. It acted as the home for Czech rulers as well as the government for a period of time.

Below the castle is the lesser town which dates back to 1257. Here you'll find plenty of attractions to see like the town square and Nerudova street, which is known as the Royal Way. The lower town is covered with churches, palaces and squares worth visiting.

The old town dates back to 1091. The center of this area is the Old Town square. Spend some time strolling through the Old Town, you certainly won't regret it.

You may also want to visit the old Jewish quarter which was the jewish Ghetto of Prague when the Nazis were in control. There is plenty of recent history to see in this area.

Finally, there is the New Town which dates back to 1348. This part of town was mostly inhabited by the working class. The center of this area is Wenceslas Square and is the main center of Prague today. Once again in this area you'll see some magnificent architecture along with a taste of modern Czech culture. Prague and the Czech Republic are just a taste of some of the great capitals and countries in Europe.

Paris

Paris has long been a favorite of European travelers. I have to admit it's a great city. There are many things to see and for couple's it can be very romantic. I always seem to have trouble doing anything because the French are always on strike. Like London and Berlin it is a great walking city. Try to plan out a walking tour for yourself with the information that I provide or just take one of my walking tour suggestions. While on your walk be sure to stop at a cafe. For me there's something about sitting in a Parisien cafe that just seems so civilized. You'll need at least 4 days to see a good portion of the city. If you really want to experience Paris stay for a week or more. Click on my link to discover Paris, France. One of the great capitals and countries in Europe.

Berlin

Discover Berlin!!

There's so much to say about Berlin. I'm a history buff so Berlin is a special place for me. Since the reunification of Germany there has been a massive modernization effort. Even with all the new construction the evidence from the second world war and the cold war is everywhere. If history is not your thing, don't worry, there are some great shopping areas and the nightlife is said to be the best in Germany. A real plus is that it is still relatively cheap. Check out my link above and discover Berlin. Discover this and the other capitals and countries in Europe.

London

Frankly, there's too much to say about London in a short little paragraph. All I can say is make sure you visit this incredible city at least once in your life. London is my favorite city in Europe. It has so much history and the mix of cultures from around the globe make it one of the most interesting cities on earth. If you have the time you could spend weeks discovering new things. If your time is limited give yourself at least four days and nights to see the major attractions. Click on my link and discover London, England. One of the great capitals and countries in Europe

Rome

Discover Rome!!

Italy seems to be the favorite spot for most European travelers. So when in Rome? Well I'm sure you know the saying. To be honest with you Rome's not my favorite city. I have to admit, though, it has some wonderful things to see and it's a great city to explore in. Sure it's a little dirty and the pollution can get to you occasionally but for many people it's worth it. Let's face it you have to go once in your life to the Vatican and see the Sistine Chapel. If you shop around you can get some great deals on hotels and you'll find a great little restaurant with fantastic food. Click on my link to discover Rome, Italy. One of the great capitals and countries in Europe

Amsterdam

Discover Amsterdam!!

Although Amsterdam is not officially the capital of the Netherlands it still has unofficial status. I love starting off all my trips to Europe with a couple of days in Amsterdam. First of all, everyone speaks English and it's very easy to get around. It gives you a chance to aclimatize yourself to European culture without the language barrier. More importantly it's a fantastic city. You really don't need more than a few days to see most of what the city has to offer. Check out my link above and discover Amsterdam.

Lisbon

Lisbon is a wonderful city to consider visiting on your European vacation. It has been the capital of Portugal since 1255 and has a rich history. The city is located on the banks of the Tagus River which provides a magnificent backdrop for this medieval city.

Throughout Lisbon there is evidence of the countries illustrious past. Its heyday was in the “Age of Discovery” and there are many monuments honoring famous Portuguese explorers.

The city has a unique atmosphere combing old and new. The shopping is outstanding and there is a deal to be found almost anywhere. The nightlife is vibrant. Who wouldn’t enjoy walking through the streets of Lisbon with music playing in the background on a warm summer night? Just another one of the magnificent capitals and countries in Europe.

Madrid

Madrid's location, in the center of the country, makes it the perfect spot to begin your vacation in Spain. In 1561 it became the countries capital and its magnificent history can be seen throughout the city. Art and Spanish culture are very important in Madrid. There are plenty of top notch museums, like the Prado.

The city is covered with beautiful parks and is an excellent walking city. The citizens of Madrid love life and this feeling is passed on to the visitor. The restaurants and nightlife in the city provide the tourist with a wonderful atmosphere. You may want to even take in a traditional Spanish bullfight while you visit. Make sure you check out the other capitals and countries in Europe.
