The Climate in Austria

The climate in Austria throughout the year varies little from one part of the country to another. You can expect a fair amount of rain during the summer months but it’s usually in the form of thunderstorms that don’t last all that long but have a high volume of rain. The amount off sun in the summer will be more than you would find in northern Europe but significantly less than Spain.

The weather in Austria in the winter can be very cold as air from Russia moves into the region. Temperatures are generally lower in the lowland areas of the country. There is usually just a small covering of snow but that can vary from year to year.

The Austrian Alps have a climate all to themselves. Ironically the high mountain Ares will get more sun than the villages in the valleys. There you will often find foggy conditions. The opposite happens in the summer.

Check out the table below for average temperatures in Austria. Knowing the climate in Austria will help you plan your European vacation. Untitled Document
