The Climate in Belgium

The climate in Belgium varies even though it’s a small country. The areas along the coast experience different weather than the areas in the interior. For this reason it is probably better to look at the climates of the cities you may be thinking of visiting.

The north is low country just like The Netherlands. The climate of this region will be similar to the climate in The Netherlands.

The interior of Belgium is characterized by rolling hills which give it a slightly higher elevation than the coast. The weather in this area will be warm in the summer and cold in the winter. You can expect some snow in the winter but it usually doesn’t last. The summer can be wet with frequent thunderstorms.

In the south the elevation increases and the winters are a little harsher. The summers will be about the same as the interior.

The climate in Belgium is perfect for the traveler, not too hot, not too cold. Check out the chart below which will give you the average temperatures and a look at the overall weather in Belgium. Enjoy your European vacation.
