Climate in Great Britain
The climate in Great Britain can be unpredictable to say the least. In terms of size Great Britain is not that large but the climate can vary from region to region. The reason for this change has to do with the fact that it’s and Island that’s surrounded by very unique bodies of water.
The southwest of the country actually has palm trees and although it’s not always balmy the weather is generally mild year round. The southwest tends to have a little more sun than the other areas of the country.
In the east there is a tendency for more rain and overcast conditions. Sometimes it feels like the sun will be gone for ever but all of a sudden the sun shows up and the skies clear.
Don’t expect the weather to always be dreary in London. I’ve traveled to London for the last 6 years in April and the weather has been spectacular.
As you travel north the weather in Great Britain varies as much as the scenery. It’s a mix of just about everything. The temperature tends to be a little cooler the closer you get to Scotland. In the summer count on mild days with cool nights while in the winter there will be a mix of precipitation (snow or rain).
Scotland is not known for its outstanding weather but that’s what makes it interesting. Count on rain or snow in the winter at least in the lowlands while in the highlands you might even get in some skiing. In the summer the weather can change by the hour so always be prepared. You may have noticed that whenever they play golf at St – Andrews the spectatators always have an umbrella and jacket in hand. I hope the information I have given you on the climate in Great Britain helps. Enjoy your European vacation.
