European Food Recipe Book

European Cuisine

What is European food? What is a European Food Recipe? Hopefully I'll be able to help you figure out what you can expect as far as food is concerned on your European vacation. I'll also provide you with European food recipe's that will make your mouth water. Below you'll find examples of some of the more popular regional dishes found in Europe. I've sorted them according to their country of origin and whenever possible I've included a recipe. You might want to bookmark this page and consider it your European food recipe book.

Every country in Europe has a unique cuisine. There is really no such thing as European cuisine. As a matter of fact in individual countries food can be quite different depending on where you are. Take Italy for instance we just assume that all Italian food is the same but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Each region of Italy has dishes that are specific to that area and they generally like to use ingrediants native to that region. Just as an example, Pesto is most common in Tuscany while traditional pizza is native to Naples.

There is one thing for sure, food will be a huge part of your European vacation and European food in general is fantastic. The smaller the restaurant the better as far as I'm concerned. The old family restaurant is still alive in most countries in Europe so do whatever it takes to find them and enjoy yourself. Check out my restaurants page for some suggestions.

Make an effort to try at least one dish native to each country that you visit. Don't rely on fast food restaurants because you don't really save on cost and the quality is not same. However, sometimes a small little stand can be a gem. A Belgian fries stand in Brussels will knock your socks off (make sure you eat them with mayonaise).
