Who would have guessed that Europes beaches are some of the top beaches in the world. The fact is that Europe has exceptional beaches that are perfect for every type of traveler.

The first thing that comes to mind when you think of Europes beaches are those picture perfect beaches in France, Spain and Portugal. Lets face it, these are some of the best beaches anywhere. French beaches are world famous especially the French riviera beaches. I talk about these in depth on my French beaches page. If your looking for fun in the sun then look no further than Spain. Spain has so many beaches it can be difficult to choose which one is for you. From Barcelona all the way down to the Costa Del Sol you'll find superb beaches and wonderful hotels that will make your European vacation a memorable one.

Portugal may have the best beaches for a number if reasons. The weather is excellent especially in the Algarve. The beaches are spectacular and the hotels are reasonably priced. Portugal has become one of the most popular beach destinations in Europe.

Not all of Europes beaches are located in the sun drenched Mediterranean. As a matter of fact there are some wonderful beaches in England, The Netherlands, Belgium and even Germany. For this reason beaches in northern Europe tend to be occupied by locals who head out to the Beach when the weather is right.

I'm often asked by residents of North America about going topless on beaches in Europe. For some reason people in North America have this impression that all European beaches are naturalist beaches or as some people call them " au natural beaches ". The plain truth is that the customs in Europe are different and they even vary from country to country. You can expect to see women go topless but by no means is it everyone. Most women keep on there bikinis so don't feel pressured to take it off!

Europe does have naturalist beaches if that's your thing. I provide a list of these au natural beaches for those who don't mind letting loose. Greece is a popular place for naturalist beaches mainly because of all the small islands that provide seclusion.
