French Riviera Beaches

(Cote d'Azur Beaches)

French Riviera beaches ! From the beautiful scenery to the beautiful people the Cote d'Azur beaches are some of the best French beaches anywhere.

Who hasn't dreamt of spending an afternoon on the French Riviera soaking up the sun and getting a taste of what life is like for the rich and famous. This region of France has a reputation that is second to none. However, if your a budget traveler you shouldn't be scared away from a trip to the Cote d'Azur. On the contrary, include it in your European vacation and you'll find that if you go at the right time of year it can be quite affordable.

The center of the region is Nice. This large city has probably the most famous of all French beaches. Unfortunately it's not that attractive and frankly it's way too busy in the summer. To truly enjoy the region you have to go out and discover the other French Riviera beaches. Find the smaller towns with less people and you'll truly enjoy your vacation.

Along the Cote D'azur you'll find a series of small towns stretching from Toulon, in the west, to Menton, in the east. These small towns each have a unique charm about them and they usually have a small secluded beach which will be less crowded than the usual Cote d'Azur beaches. Some of the towns worth visiting are: Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Villefranche-Sur-Mer and St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

In some of the larger towns like Cannes and Saint-Tropez you'll also find some magnificant beaches but they tend to be more crowded. there certainly is more to do in these larger towns especially if you're looking for some nightlife.

Don't forget to make a trip to Monaco if you have the time. This is the real playground of the rich and famous and it's worth the trip just to see it. There is one small public beach but in general the beaches are private.

Most of the French Riviera beaches are a mix of public and private. On most public beaches you'll be able to rent a chair for the day and stake your claim to your little poece of paradise. On the private beaches, which are usually run by htels or restaurants, you'll have the added luxery of service while you suntan.

If you do happen to be traveling to France on your European vacation then why not give the French Riviera beaches a try. For more information on French beaches check out my links on the right.
