Golf Holidays in Europe

 

Golf holidays in Europe are becoming more and more popular these days due to the huge growth in the golf industry. Traditionally the thought of taking a European golf holiday was never really an option. Even though excellent courses have existed for years people from overseas rarely planned a golf vacation to Europe.

Today the most popular golf destinations in Europe are Scotland, England Ireland, Spain and Portugal. It goes without saying that Scotland is the cream of the crop when it comes to golf. golf-holidays-in-europe-1When you travel to Scotland it's all about the atmosphere. Having the opportunity to play courses like St- Andrews and Carnoustie can be the highlite of some golfers lives. It does ,however, come at a cost and can be one of the more expensive golf holidays in Europe.

England has many of the same golf opportunities as Scotland but without all the history. The clubs along the coast are links type courses similar to the ones you might find in Scotland. In the interior you'll find golf course designs that will be more familiar to North Americans.

The new jewel of European golf is Ireland. Some of the best European golf packages can be found on the "Emerald Isle". Both Ireland and Northern Ireland have a slew of great courses at reasonably prices. You can chose from coastal tracks or those in the interior. Be warned that any course in Ireland or the UK will come with its' fare share of wind and rain so be prepared.

Some of the best golf holidays in Europe can be found in Spain and Portugal. Most of the golf resorts are located along the coast. In Portugal the Algarve has a ton of top notch courses while in Spain the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol seem to be the most popular golf destinations. Golfers are like everyone else in that they like to have the sun and sand as an alternative.

Golf in Europe is becoming more and more afforadble so don't hesitate and start planning a European golf holiday on your European vacation.
