Mikes Bike Tour
Untitled DocumentOne of the best tours in Munich is Mikes Bike Tour. I've had the opportunity to take the tour for the last seven years with my student groups and I have to say it has been a blast each time. Mike has a small shop just located around the corner from the Hofbrauhaus and a short walk from the Marienplatz. Mike´s bike tour caters to individuals or groups with the sole purpose of giving them an entertaining tour that they will never forget. He even offers daily bike rentals if you would prefer to tour on your own. The shop is also a great place to gather information about Munich and his staff are very friendly and helpful. The tour itself lasts about 4 hours and the highlite is a stop for lunch or dinner in the Englischer Garten. In the park there is a wonderful beer garden which serves traditional Bavarian cuisine and, of course, beer! The guides are what make the trip interesting. They are quite animated and have a tremendous amount of knowledge about the city. Many are younger university students who have made Munich their home for a number of reasons. If you're a history buff you'll have a great time especially with the sites associated with the second world war. If you're concerned about the pace you shouldn't be. The tour takes a nice leisurely pace through the city and at no time do you find yourself out of breath or caught behind. If you want to sign up for a tour then you should make your way to the shop in the morning or the day before to reserve a space. There are 2 tours a day in the summer one at 11:30 and another at 4:00. Generally, you'll travel in a group with about 16 other tourists and it's a great way to meet people. The standard tour costs 24 euros per person. After you have made a reservation you'll be told to meet under the tower at the Old Town hall for a brief introduction to the city. Make sure you try out Mikes bike tour on your trip to Munich. I hope you enjoy your European vacation. Map to Mikes Bike Tour
