Montreal to Europe
Welcome to my Montreal to Europe page which was created to help fellow Montrealer’s plan the trip of a lifetime to Europe. The rest of my site will give you plenty of information about Europe. The site is an ongoing piece of work that I started several years ago. I’m always adding pages that I think would be helpful for people planning a European Vacation.
This page will contain various itineraries that get you from Montreal to Europe at the best possible price. Each itinerary can be customized to suit your needs and expectations. Enough said let’s get you from Montreal to Europe.
The following itinerary was planned for the summer of 2010. To ensure the lowest price it’s important to book early. The price of the trip may vary slightly depending on the date it was booked.
19-21 Day Excursion
Day 1:
Evening departure from Montreal (Air Canada or Air Transat which is cheaper)
Day 2:
Arrive late morning in Paris with a brief wait before departing by train for Amsterdam
Arrival in Amsterdam around 6:00pm
The train arrives at Centraal Station in the heart of Amsterdam. From the station you can take a cab, tram, or water taxi (great option) to the hotel. You can walk it as well (20 min)
Check in at the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel **** 4 stars located in the Liedseplein area of the outer canal ring.

From this location everything is within walking distance.
Anne Frank House
Rijksmuseum
Van Gogh Museum
Casino
Heineken Brewery (great tour)
Dam Square
Red Light District
Shopping
Canal Cruise
You can see plenty of Amsterdam in a short period of time. On the first night you might want to grab some dinner in the Leidseplein, followed by a stroll down to the Red Light District. Don’t worry it’s safe. All the tourists do it.
Day 3
Catch all of the other attractions the next day at your own pace. Make sure you sit down for a Heineken.
Day 4
Wake up and catch an early morning train to Berlin
You’ll have a Eurail Pass so departure times and arrival times are not set in stone. Just make sure you have your timetable on you.
The trip to Berlin takes about 7 hours so this is a good time to relax. Take in the sites and get ready for a remarkable city.
Arrive in Berlin around supper time and take the metro or a cab to the Tiergarten Hotel****.
Try not to plan anything that evening unless you had the chance to get some sleep on the train. The jet lag has probably started to set in. Find a local German beer garden and have a good hearty German meal and a cheap beer. Berlin is relatively inexpensive.
Day 5
Now prepare yourself for some history. Here’s what you want to see:
Brandenburgh gate
Checkpoint Charlie (try out the museum)
Remains of the Berlin Wall
Alexanderplatz
Holocaust Memorial
Shopping
Topography of Terror (an outdoor display near a pile of rubble that once used to be SS headquarters)
Beer gardens
Clubs (Berlin has some of the hottest clubs in Europe)
You’ll notice a distinct difference between the eastern and western parts of the city. Today Berlin is being modernized but you can still see the scars of World War II, especially on the eastern side of the city.
Check out the war memorial which I feel is one of the most powerful memorials I have ever seen.
Day 6
