Top Ten European Beaches
I've compiled this list of the top ten European
beaches to help people plan their European vacation. Europes
beaches are some of the best in the world especially around
the Mediterranean and in Portugal. Although the beaches in Europe
don't seem to have the same reputation as other beaches around
the world they do offer what I like to call "the whole package",
sun, sand and culture. Who could ask for more.
This top ten list will focus on various regions
in Europe which offer fantastic beach opportunities. So let's
get started.
-
Algarve (Portugal) - The Algarve is one of the most popular
beach destinations in Europe. It's popularity stems from its
magnificent beaches and outstanding climate. The sun always
seems to shine in this region of Portugal. With approximately
155 km of coast the beach opportunities are endless. For these
reasons I placed it #1 on my list of top ten European beaches.
-
Costa Del Sol (Spain) - The Costa Del Sol is much like the
Algarve in terms of beaches and weather. The mountains to the
north provide a wonderful backdrop and shelter from the winds
in the north. There is very little rain which makes this the
perfect beach destination. The region also has plenty of activities
for young and old. Definitely consider it as a possible destination
on your European vacation.
-
Costa Blanca (Spain) - Spain is a country rich in spectacular
beaches. The Costa Blanca is an area that provides old world
charm with all of the more modern amenities not to mention fabulous
beaches and some great nightlife. There are some enormous beaches
in this region like the Playa de San Juan-Condomina (Alicante).
-
Costa Dorada (Spain) - This area in the south of Catalonia
is known for fine sand beaches and great dunes. This is a very
popular family destination because of the extensive holiday
apartments available. The water is also very shallow so it's
great for kids.
-
Costa Del Garraf (Spain) - Located to the south of Barcelona
this region of Spain is home to the town of Sitges which has
become a popular destination for the gay community. The beach
her is very clean and there is outstanding nightlife for both
straight and gay individuals.
-
Cote d"Azur
(French Riviera) -
Who hasn't dreamt of spending some time on a beach in the French
Riviera. It's no longer a destination for just the rich and
famous, in fact, there are some wonderful little towns like
Beaulieu-sur-Mer
which you'll never want to leave. it definately has some of
the top ten European beaches.
-
Cinque Terra (Italian Riviera) - The Cinque Terra is a whole
series of small villages each with lovely secluded beaches with
very few people in comparison to other Italian beaches. The
food is fantastic and the surroundings are almost surreal. If
you're going to take a european vacation then you should consider
this as a potential vacation spot.
-
Corsica (France) - Although
it's a little bit of the beaten track Corsica has some great
coastline with spectacular secluded beaches that you can have
all to yourself. It's easy to get to by Ferry from Nice and
is becoming more and more popular each year. Playa de San Juan-Condomina
(Alicante)
-
Sardinia (Italy) - Sardinia is just the Italian version of
Corsica but it is even less of a tourist destination. The beaches
here will leave you breathless but there is less to due in terms
of activities and nightlife.
-
Languedoc-Roussillon
(France) - Finally I've included
this region of France that has been popular with locals for
years and includes almost endless kilometers of beach. Some
of the small towns are popular with families while others offer
opportunities for the young and old or the adventurous. There
some great Scuba diving as well.
