Here's a list of my top ten European beers. To be honest with you
just about everyone's list would probably be different. There are
so many beers to choose from in Europe is a little bit overwhelming.
Take for instance Belgium, they have hundreds of beers of every
color, taste and style imaginable. I just wanted to give people
a list of beers that I think they should try while on there european
vacation.
The list contains a mix of lagers, ales, bitters and stouts from
across Europe with a little description about each beers characteristics.
Give them a try when you visit Europe. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
So here's the top ten European beers.
Keep one thing in mind. If you have ever tried any of these beers
outside of Europe they're not the same. The taste is completely
different and the beer is not as fresh. Make sure you try them out
on your trip and I promise you you'll notice the difference.
-
Jupiler
(Belgium) - This is the most amazing beer on the planet as far
as I'm concerned. It's the most popular beer in Belgium but
you never see it outside of the country except for maybe France.
Instead we have to drink Stella. You will love this beer if
you try it and you'll be begging for more. It's served best
in a tall slender glass. The best lager anywhere!
-
RugenBrau (Interlaken, Switzerland) - If you happen to be visiting
Interlaken make sure you try the local beer and get a glass
for yourself. The beer is so fresh it makes my mouth water just
thinking about it. Terrific lager, definitely one of the top
ten European beers
-
Augustiner Helles (Munich,
Germany)
- Augustiner is Munich's
oldest brewery and supplied the bulk of the beer during Oktoberfest.
Take the time to sit down in a local beer garden and enjoy this
wonderful beer. Augustiner Helles is a light lager
-
Radeberger (Berlin,
Germany)
- Radeberger is a Pils that comes from Dresden and can be found
throughout northern Germany. It's a great beer to have while
in Berlin.
-
Pilsner
Urquell (Czech Republic) - The Czechs were the inventors of
Pilsner beer and Pilsner Urquell is the most famous of them
all. This beer is so much better in the Czech Republic it's
hard to believe that they even bother selling it anywhere else.
You have to try it to believe it.
-
Guinness (Ireland) - Guinness is perhaps one of the famous
beers in the world. This stout has been brewed in since the
late 1700's an can only really be enjoyed in the atmosphere
of an Irish pub. Talk about a different taste. You won't regret
having a pint of this beer if you make a trip to Ireland.
-
Newcastle
Brown Ale (England)
- Although not an old beer per say it has developed quite a
following around the world and the best tasting Newcastle can
be found only in Newcastle, England. Check out my page on the
history
of ale in England.
-
Paulaner (Munich,
Germany)
- Another great beer from Munich.
Make a trip to the brewery where you'll have a wonderful experience
at the beer garden where they have traditional Bavarian activities
almost every night.
-
Kilkenny (Ireland) - The ultimate in creamy smoothness, Kilkenny
has a very unique composition which is why I believe it is one
of the top ten European beers.
Berliner
Kindl (Berlin,
Germany)
- When in Berlin
have a Kindl. Berlin is fast catching up to Munich and Bavaria
with quality beer. The nightlife is getting pretty good as well.
I hope my list of the top ten European beers has got you all prepared
for your European vacation. Give them a try and I'm sure you'll
go back for more.
