Yorkshire Pudding Recipe
This Yorkshire pudding recipe will have everybody coming back for more. Yorkshire pudding is a traditional British food that is usually served with roast beef. It originated in the Yorkshire region of England and its appearance and consistency depend on where the pudding comes from within that region. The best thing about Yorkshire pudding is that it very simple to make and requires only a few ingredients.
Start by gathering up the following ingredients:
1 cup of white flour
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons of melted shortening (lard)
1 egg
teaspoon of salt
oil or the drippings from your roast
Begin by mixing the flour and salt than slowly add the milk, water, egg and shortening. Mix until the batter becomes smooth.
For best results combine only half of the ingredients and let them sit for an hour. Add the remaining ingredients afterwards
Pre-heat your oven to 450 degrees. While the oven is heating pour a little bit of oil(drippings) into the cups of a muffin tray (6 puddings) and place it in the oven until the oil is hot. Remove the try from the oven and add the batter until it reaches the top of each cup. Bake in the oven for approximately 20-25 minutes or until the pudding rises and the top is golden brown.
Serve on top of roast beef or prime rib and cover with gravy or juice.
I hope this Yorkshire pudding recipe works out for you and remember to try this traditional British food while on your European vacation
